Working Bee at Helen Haughton Reserve

Saturday, February 3, 2022

Come and join Boonah and District Landcare and Broken Paddle Canoe club on Saturday the 3 February 2022 as we once again tackle the weeds and clean up the rubbish downstream from the Helen Houghton Reserve in Boonah.

Balloon vine weed (Cardiospermum grandiflorum) is rapidly outcompeting the trees and shrub at this lovely pocket of bush in Boonah. So why not roll up your sleeves and participate in a morning of community fuelled Landcare?

Open to anyone and everyone who would like to care for their local ecosystem, it will be a great opportunity to learn about weed management and bush regeneration.

The beautiful Teviot Brook passes by the Reserve and so removing rubbish and weeds from the area will not only assist the native plants to flourish but have the flow-on effect of promoting healthy local waterways. The Broken Paddle Canoe Club will be providing boats to collect floating rubbish – FUN!

Please come in your outdoor best – long sleeves and pants, closed-in shoes, hat and sunglasses. Also remember old shoes you don’t mind getting wet and/or muddy if you plan to canoe.

Refreshments and tools provided.

The reserve is located on the corner of Milford and Boonah-Rathdowney Rd, just south of Dugandan and only a few minutes from the main street of Boonah.

See you there!
